On October 3rd, 2015, Jonette Wilburn and Reg Shurden tied the knot in the historic Cotton District of Starkville, Mississippi.
Jonette and I met three years ago working at Appel Farm Arts Camp, where she has been the Head of our Dance department since. We don't get to spend a lot of time together outside of our summers, but I can safely say that Jonette is one of my favorite people in the world. I only met Reg the day before the wedding, but over the last couple of years have gotten to hear so many wonderful things about him (including something about a kiddie pool in the kitchen...). While in Starkville, Reg coaches elite gymnasts and Jonette is a dance teacher and choreographer- they met when both of their programs were housed under the same roof at the Academy of Competitive & Performing Arts. Reg proposed in October of 2014 after leading Jonette on a scavenger hunt all over Starkville. She says she mostly blacked out between when Reg knelt down and when he had to ask if she was planning on answering- Reg's roommate, hiding in the bushes, captured some truly hilarious and genuinely "Jonette" reaction photos throughout the proposal. Jonette's circle of friends and family is as creative and talented as she is- most of the weekend was a DIY affair, with a handmade dress by the bride herself, handpicked and arranged florals, and cake made by one of her Matrons of Honor.
Congratulations Jonette & Reg- may the next chapter of your life be as beautiful as your wedding weekend :)
